A call to all consumers to support family and small businesses; these are the ones most affected by the latest global economic and political tensions. With electricity prices rising through the roof and bills surging more than 200% in some cases, companies struggle to stay above water.

Many have already announced that they are closing their doors this winter because the expenses are simply too high. Most of those who decided to keep going significantly lowered their investments in marketing and extra staff, and everyone cut off their planned investments for additional growth.

In some very rare cases, companies decide to keep going as before and accept the fact that they’ll work for the bare minimum just to survive. Those who calculated that profits would not be enough even for survival decided to put the key in the lock.

How can we help the economy?

Inflation is a serious problem and affects everyone. However, if you want to live in a world where commodities are available in the first place, you need to help those in need. You might say that you’re struggling to get to the end of the month yourself, and you’d be right, but with no economy, you’d have nowhere to spend the money, pushing us into a vicious cycle where everything collapses.

It’s normal that we all want to live as better as possible. Still, what you need to do in this situation is help the little businesses that are doing their best to continue with their service and provide for you - small companies like a pizza restaurant in Leicester or a car mechanic in Brighton.

Family-owned businesses are the ones most affected by the crisis. They work for the common person and are not huge corporations with hundreds of employees that will seamlessly solve the problem by letting go of a few dozen workers and lowering the expenses for the rest of the fiscal year.

Where’s the main problem?

The main problem is the surging electricity bills. The global political situation caused a shortage of gas and electricity, affecting the entire world. Now, with governments struggling to find a supply for the enormous demand, it seems like the only solution is to increase the prices and cut off usage.

With higher electricity bills, many companies find themselves in a situation to either increase the prices of their products and services or close their businesses. With electricity bills in some cases rising more than 200%, it’s impossible to maintain the business.

Things are not all that black

Humanity has been through all sorts of crises before and managed to come back alive. We’ve seen how the Covid-19 pandemic affected everything, and the economy managed to recover from the shock quickly. It’s not going to be much different now.

Governments need to develop plans to help the industry. They must control energy issues and find ways to stabilize the political situation in the world. Ordinary people need to understand that in these difficult times, everyone must do everything in their power to save.

We haven’t seen such an energy problem for decades, but every generation has a struggle that needs to be overcome. This one will proudly talk about the times when the winter of 2022 was disastrous, but we managed to overcome it.

Some European countries are imposing laws by which households are not allowed to heat more than 19 degrees Celsius. It may be a low number, but it will surely contribute to huge energy savings and help everyone survive these harsh times.

Conclusion

Things are going to get better, that’s for sure. Of course, the risk of escalation in the world always stands, but this is the time to see how capable politicians are. They must find a way to de-escalate the situation and provide an energy source that will create enough energy supplies for everyone to be happy.

As for us ordinary citizens, we must be patient and calm. Supporting small businesses is the wisest thing to do. If we help our neighbors, family, and friends, we can be sure that the energy crisis will not affect us as much as we think. Shop at your local businesses, and stick together as one.
